JOTA and Radio Scouting. Jamboree On Air and Radio Scouting is activities that Scouts have the opportunity to talk with other Scouts around the world.
JOTA is held the third full weekend in October every year. JOTA uses amateur radio to connect Scouts and ham radio operators around the world. The event runs from Friday evening thru Sunday evening.
Started at the 1957 National Jamboree, Scouts and Scouters interested in Amateur Radio experience Radio Scouting. Therefore, JOTA and Radio Scouting allows Jamboree attending Scouts the opportunity to share the experience. Scouts that were not able to attend can hear about the Jamboree experience. Therefore, today Radio Scouting is used at all National Jamborees and World Jamborees.
