NRA Basic Practical Rocker Plastic; Worn by Scouts that completed the NRS’s Basic Practical couse on firearms safety.

NRA has resources, programs and training to assist youth organizations, such as Boy Scout troops

Also the Royal Ranger outposts, American Legion posts, JROTC units, 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, commercial summer camps and U.S. Jaycee chapters.

These courses teach safe handling, shooting fundamentals, and other skills.

  • NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course: Teaches safe rifle handling, parts, operation, and shooting fundamentals 
  • NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting: Teaches safe pistol handling, skills, and attitude 
  • NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course: Teaches defensive shooting skills, home safety, and responding to violent confrontations 
Training options
  • Instructor-led: Receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor 
  • Online: Complete a self-study module and then participate in a hands-on practical portion with an instructor 
  • Self-paced: Use the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program to develop your shooting skills at your own pace
